Add Call Duration when Converting Call Notes to Tasks
Austin Elliott
For Users that bill clients for time, especially for phone calls, tracking the time on a call is important. That can already be done with the call duration feature in fone&text which is captured as a note in the call window. There is also already a feature which allows a Dayilte users to convert or make a task from a note which can then be used for time billing.
It would be helpful if the call duration collected by the fone&text call window could be reflected or transferred automatically to a task that was converted using the “Convert to Task" feature. Also would be helpful to have an option to “Convert to Task with Call Duration” or “Convert to Task as Completed."
A feature like this would allow a User to then mark that task complete knowing the time recorded in that task was accurate and could then be used to forward along to the User’s billing software (Billings Pro or Quick Books for example)

Hello Austin,
when billing for phone time, we always recommend logging telefoante as appointments. This way you have a duration and you can easily continue billing.

Alf Ruppert: Alf, since not all calls are billable, we believe the fone&text plugin option that captures calls as Daylite Notes vs. Appointments is better in most situations for our business. This is especially true considering the ease of later searching through Daylite Notes for any details captured by the Daylite user.
When calls are scheduled ahead of time, noting them via a Daylite Appointment certainly makes sense. What about the feature I requested above but instead provides for the ability for a user to right-click and convert a Daylite Note, which was created by fone&text, into a Daylite Appointment, which would include the time/date/duration details?
The Daylite Note with the call details could then be auto-linked to the contact, project/opportunity, and newly converted Daylite Appointment, which contains the time & date of the call as well as the duration, all able to be easier exported for billing purposes.

Austin Elliott: every phone call billed or not billed takes place on a certain date and time. Its always a good idea to know when the call happened even it is not billed. You can search for content with in Appointments to. if you would link a note to a appointment you have to click at least one time more for getting the information. Thats why we recommad Appointments for capturing call information. Anyway if you prefer your workflow this can be done by a custom automator action. Just let us know if we should calculate the effort and we can do this for you.
