Dropbox - Using File Provider API
Austin Elliott
Is there any information or plan for the ongoing migration/conversion of the Dropbox for macOS App to use Apple’s macOS ‘File Provider’ API, which does not permit the location of a user’s Dropbox folder to be in the ‘Users / Shared directory? Specifically, how will this work for the iOSXpert Dropbox integration because of the requirement the folder be in the Users / Shared directory?
I’ve included a link below to a Dropbox Support article discussing the ongoing shift to macOS File Provider API.

Alf, do you have any updates on this? The local links and file paths in DayliteDocs will not work across different users because Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, and G-Drive must be located in a user's folder in macOS rather than in a shared directory.

Hi Austin, we will have a look for sure. The easy solution would be that Daylite is accepting a relativ path. We are discussing that at the moment. Thanks for your post!

Alf Ruppert, Any update on this issue or solution? A lot of the Docs2Daylite features via Dropbox will not work because it is no longer an option to use the 'shared' folder at the default location in Dropbox. One user can select the Dropbox location, but that will break the linking for any other users (or other devices of the same user)
I feel like there is probably a workaround solution that involves symlinks or something similar, but it is beyond my skills to implement this in a multiuser Dropbox environment.

Hi Austin Elliott,
Thanks for following up on this point. We have been in contact with Marketcircle and they consider the usage of ~ within a path like you might know from the Finder.
At the moment lot of effort has taken by DMA but last time we spoke it sounded like weeks not months until they will take care of that. For sure, I can only follow-up and note make any decision but more than happy to do so.
Besides that: the normal linking of projects and companies e.g. should still work, “just” a file that is within a delegated task or the finder-links are broken. Can you confirm?
Austin Elliott
Alf Ruppert Its just finder links on the Docs2Daylite under the Dropbox Tab.

Alf Ruppert - This appears to be an issue that is going to cause many issues for users if my recent dealings with Dropbox on this are any indication.
